In a report by CNET News, Microsoft has stopped selling its product called Microsoft Money at the end of June. However, the report also said that Microsoft’s market-leading personal finance program will still continue and will still support the product until January 2011.
Because of this development, Microsoft had notified various financial institutions and had announced the move to customers by posting it on their Web site as well as a notification in the software. With the end of Microsoft’s home banking software, customers can still use MS Money but they will no longer be able to get automated data feeds from their financial service providers.
According to Adam Sohn of Microsoft, the company decided to end the use of the MS money due to a ‘mix of what’s going on in the market, what makes sense for long-term for us and a little bit on consumer behavior’. The company also made the discontinuation of Money as part of its cost-cutting efforts.
